Hooray, I’m Hambone!
I’m a handsome 6-month old pup with a soft red coat, accented by two cute white paws and an adorable chest area. I have big brown eyes, a curious nose and a constantly wagging tail. I’m a persistently happy dog! I’ve got a unique little wrinkle on one side of my smile so my foster family wondered if they should rename me Elvis. Others think I could also be called Scooby Doo or even Clifford! No matter what, I’m a really attractive big boy!
I’m all puppy and love my toys. I play with them, chew them or extract stuffing, crinkle paper and squeakers! I have two medium-sized foster fur siblings and invite them to play with me often! When they reciprocate, there’s tail wags, paws flying, friendly vocalizations and tumbles. It’s my favorite thing! If my foster fur sibling isn’t in a playful mood and lets me know, I’m sweet and submissive – and I walk away. My foster fur sister sometimes steals the toy I’m playing with and I allow it. I don’t get possessive at all. I’ve not been around little dogs before. I love to be where the action is, which includes following my human friends around. Due to my size and still learning how to coordinate my long legs, I stick close to my humans. I may need to learn to walk gently near a toddler, but if there are grade-school aged kids, I’ll love that! I’ve got a curious heart and nose – maybe I’m part hound. Being a part of a pack is the greatest.
I am 100% flawless in going potty outdoors and know how to paw at the door to signal my desire to head outside. There’s so much to sniff, chew and see! When I find a fun stick, I’ll pick it up and prance around with it for a while! I love checking out the sounds in my new foster neighborhood. I’ll tilt my head to listen – and admit I’m pretty cute when I do this – in an effort to see what’s going on! Along with my siblings, we’ll all trot outdoors together and sniff along the fenceline. When there’s something to investigate, I’ll join them in looking out the windows! But let’s be candid here, I’m not a fan of that Roomba thing!
When it’s time to eat, I’ll gallop right into my kennel to devour my bowl of food. I adore treats and can “sit” when asked. When it’s time to head to bed, my foster family will toss a treat in the kennel, and I’m eager to walk in and settle down for the night. My kennel is a-okay for me!
Speaking of that, I love to snuggle and take naps. If you allow it, I’ll join you on the couch and cuddle while we watch TV. I’ll show you how happy I am with a little lick or lay my head on your heart or lap. I will curl up in a dog bed and share with my foster siblings. I’m also just as happy to lay down at your feet, just to be with you.
I’m learning manners around what’s a dog toy and what isn’t. When you distract me with my dog toy, I’ll easily redirect! I’m pretty tall and may peek at what’s on the counter. Mom just lifts my paws and puts me back on the floor, reminding me that I shouldn’t be counter-surfing. I do pretty well on a leash, and love going on walks. I’ll continue to get more skilled at walking on a leash!
I can’t wait to join your family. I’m loyal, happy and so sweet. Please consider making me a part of your joyful home so that we can enjoy the holidays together. I’ll give you so much love and be your forever good boy.
Yours, Hambone
